Today I made a new game that we will be able to play on the plane or in waiting lines. It's a Would You Rather game. I found this on Pinterest and it was super easy to make and it is super fun to play. On each sheet there are two choices. You have to choose one and explain why you would choose it instead of the other. It makes very good conversation topics and you can play for hours with only this little booklet.
I just printed the printable from this blog and then cut each square and glued them in pairs. Then I attached them all with a ribbon to make a booklet and decorated the pages. I can't wait to be at the airport so we can play :)

Today's activity was fun. First, I didn't have to decide what I wanted to eat which is always a big challenge so I was grateful for that. Second, Lady and the Tramp was one of my favorite Disney movies as a child and I hadn't watched it in so long, so it was good to see it again. Plus, I had a lot to do today so I really enjoyed that I had an excuse to take a break and relax while watching a movie :P I got my itinerary today! It says that my housing complex will be Vista Way. It was my last choice of complex so I am a little disappointed, but it's only for three months and there are a lot of advantages to living at Vista. Like the Walgreens and Wendy's 2 minutes away and all the Disney offices on site, the library and movie center and the Transtar office. It won't be so bad I'm sure. The itinerary also says our schedule for the first few days. On the first day I have the check-in at 1:30 PM and nothing else so I can relax. On the second day I have the Housing Welcome Session at 9 AM and the Immigration Session at 5 PM. The next day, I have the International Onboarding Session at 1:30 PM and on May 12th I have Traditions at 8 AM. After that, I have no idea! I have probably told you before, but on May 10th, after the Immigration Session, some of us are going to O'hana for dinner! I can't wait! I have never been there for dinner and apparently it's delicious :) Since the Immigration Session is at 5, we have plenty of time to make it to our reservation at 8 and we don't have anything the next day until 1:30 so we don't have to go to bed early. Today I made one of Disney's classic recipes, Dole Whip! The delicious treat as been a Magic Kingdom favourite since it's opening day and a Disneyland favorite long before that. It is served at the Dole counter near the Enchanted Tiki Room in Adventureland and at the Polynesian Resort. In the hot Florida weather, it tastes like heaven! It is very simple to make. I bought a pineapple that I cut in little cubes and put in a freezer bag with some mangoes, also cut into cubes. I left the bag in the freezer over night. This morning I took it out and put about 2 cups of fruit cubes in the blender with 1 cup of coconut milk and 3/4 cup of tropical juice. I mixed it all together until it was all smooth and the results were delicious. Even though it would taste better in Magic Kingdom with hot or at least warm temperatures, it's still better than no Dole Whip at all! I realized a few days ago that I hadn't written my bucket list for this summer yet so here it is! This summer being my last one, I hope I get to do all of it this time.
2016 Bucket List:
Some of those like Typhoon Lagoon and Magic Kingdom I have already done, but I still want to do them another time :) Every trip I take to Disney World I come back with souvenirs. Some of those souvenirs are Celebration buttons that you can get pretty much everywhere at the parks. You can get birthday buttons, I'm celebrating buttons, just engaged buttons and even special events buttons like the one they gave out during the 24 hour event two years ago that had Maleficent on it. Unfortunately, when I come back home, I put them in a box and I don't think about them or look at them until my next Disney vacation. As I was procrastinating on Pinterest the other day, I saw someone who had turned their buttons into magnets to put on the fridge and I thought it was a wonderful idea. So that's what I did today! I went to the dollar store to buy little magnets and got eight for a dollar. Then I came back home and cut the pin on the back of the buttons, glued a piece of cardboard on the back of it and glued the magnet on the piece of cardboard. The piece of cardboard is just because the buttons are deeper than the height of the magnets so they don't stick on the fridge without it. Today I am making a special Scattergories game! Scattergories is a game my family and I like to play sometimes. It's a word game where you have a list of categories and a letter and you have three minutes to find a word starting with that letter for each category. Once the three minutes are over, you compare your answers and you get a point for every word that fits the category and you were the only one to find. If someone wrote the same word, you don't get the point. What I did today was make six lists of twelve categories each, most of them related to the Disney company. I am trying to make games that don't take too much space and are easy to carry so that we can play when we are waiting at the airport or in line to pass the time. To play Scattergories, you only need a piece of paper, a pen and a timer so it doesn't take a lot of space and we can play for hours. Plus, since the categories are Disney related, the new program participants will get to learn some things about Disney. Here are the lists that I made if you want to play too!
If you followed this blog last year, you already know that the last 15 days before I leave for Disney, I plan special activities everyday. I changed some of the activities for this year so I'm excited to try them all. Now that school is over (since Friday!!), I have all the time in the world so this is kind of like an advent calendar and helps me wait for the trip, but instead of getting a chocolate everyday, I do something fun and, most of the time, Disney related. The first activity is the same as last year: I am making a paper countdown. Last year’s countdown was the house from Up! and a balloon for everyday I had left until Disney. This year, I am making a Minnie themed paper chain. One ring for each day I have left. It is very simple to do. Just cut the paper into strips and glue the extremities together to make a ring, and then insert the next strip of paper into the first ring before gluing it into a ring and so on until you have a chain. Then decorate it with your favorite character. You can see the pictures below of what mine looks like.
Now that my challenge of the day is done, I am going to bed because the weekend really kicked my butt. I worked on both days and played water polo (it was so much fun can we please do that again!?) on Saturday and went on a long walk/run with my mom on Sunday between the morning and afternoon shifts. My whole body wants sleep! haha Talk to you some more tomorrow for the next challenge :) As I had predicted, the last 10 days were pretty boring. I went to school, studied, went to work, had two exams, but I also had a little bit of fun with some friends. We went to get ice cream a few times and played in the pool after work. Oh, I also got sunburnt yesterday, my first sunburn of 2016! I can’t believe I barely have 3 weeks left before my college program!
We should get the DORMS email soon, hopefully this week and I have started putting things aside for my suitcase, things I know I won’t need until we leave or that I have bought for the trip. ** Literally 5 minutes after posting this I got the DORMS email! Now it's all done and printed and I should get my itinerary in a little while to tell me which housing complex I will be living in. Since the last time I wrote, I received my DS-2019 and paid my SEVIS fee, I saw Zootopia, which was AMAZING, seriously if you haven’t seen it yet, go NOW, it’s worth it!! I went bowling with some people going to Disney, which was fun, as always :P, and I finished almost every homework I had left to do! All that is left is 100 words in Italian and a 4 page essay in French about what I find hard when revising a text. After that, it’s going to be only exams and after that… Summer!!
The next 10 days are going to be really boring since all I have to do is work and go to school and 2 exams, but they will bring me 10 days closer to the day I leave for Disney!! |
AuthorHello everyone! My name is Marie-Ève. I am from Québec, Canada and this blog is about my summer as a cast member in Walt Disney World. Since most of my family and friends speak French, everything on this blog will be written both in English and French. Archives
